DVD release for Nov. 2008!!!

I just checked with Amazon.com and they have announced a release date for 11/11/08 for this long-overdue epic masterpiece! It is a two-disc special edition release and you can now place advance orders for it. They also have the packaging artwork posted. I hope this is happy news to everyone who loves this grand scale classic epic and has been calling for its DVD release for years like I have. REMEMBER: this was produced in 1951, two years before the advent of the widescreen process, so it is presented as it was originally photographed by the director in the full-screen look. Theater screens back then were more of a square-shape, think of a gigantic standard TV screen. Had this been produced after 1953 the widescreen look would certainly have done this film awesome justice at superior magnitude, so don't be surprised to see this released in the full-screen look, because that was the way it was originally filmed, and that was the only way the director could envision it at the time. What you see is what was imagined and filmed.
