Something That QUO VADIS Gets Very Right:

at no moment is Nero referred to as Majesty.
The first monarch to be addressed as His Majesty was Holy Roman Emperor Charles V in the 16th century. It would be fun to know how many movies set in Antiquity and the Middle Age show monarchs addressed as Your Majesty.

I actually can't think of any movie, where an ancient Roman emperor is called "Majesty". But a few ancient kings might have been called that in movies, not to mention Medieval kings.

Intelligence and purity.

reply

To be perfectly fair, Nero had another title: "Divinity", which I think probably trumps anything you could reasonably call a king or an emperor.

Flat, drab passion meanders across the screen!

reply

I have always hoped one of my wives would address me as "Your Majesty". But I have been married to the one I'm stuck with now for 22 years, and it hasn't happened yet.
