When Jeanne Crain faints...

At the start when Jeanne Crain faints and falls out of her chair, her eyes are closed and her face would have hit the step if the women behind her hadn't broken her fall and caught her head. Talk about trust!
I wish I knew if that was her stunt double or an assistant.

There used to be - still may be, as far as I know - an acting exercise called "Courage Camille". It involved exactly that: physically falling backward and trusting your fellow actors to catch you. Acting is a group endeavor, and you have to know your fellow actors are present for you in every possible sense.

Essentially she was doing the job of acting. ;) An actor who couldn't or wouldn't do exactly what she did would be failing in their job.
