"That old zing"

Every time John Wayne uses that phrase when kissing Patricia Neal, it makes me smile. I think what he really meant to say was:

"Honey, I've been stuck inside a goddamn sardine can, with no company except a bunch of ugly lookin swabbies. You're the first woman I've seen in two months, and the only thing I've got on my mind now is to take you to a cheap hotel, fling you down on the bed, and *beep* the living daylights out of you"

That's what John Wayne probably meant to say, but the Hays Code forbade the writers from putting it in.
