I was interested in the age difference because one reviewer was upset about it. Lana Turner was 29 years younger than Ezio Pinza but Mitzi Gaynor in S. Pacific was 39 years younger. He surely looked well-preserved to me!

Ezio Pinza wasn't in the movie version of South Pacific with Mitzi Gaynor, that was Rosanno Brazzi, who was much closer to Mitzi's age.
shareEzio Pinza wore his years well. He was in the 1949 Broadway premiere of 'South Pacific.' His version of the song 'Some Enchanted Evening' still seems to be the definitive recording of the tune. His leading lady on Broadway was Mary Martin who was 21 years his junior. Both were replaced for the film made nearly a decade later.
