On TV?

Is this movie ever played on TV? I realize it's unavailable to an American audience (our VCRs can't play French videotapes). How do people watch this movie? There are ratings for it....

reply

People can rate anything, even if they haven't seen it. There are even lost movies with ratings. The 21 people who gave this movie a 10, obviously haven't seen it, and just gave it a high rating because Audrey Hepburn is in it.

The movie is completely uninteresting and today excists only in a bad quality print. I've seen it screened in Amsterdam about ten years ago. Some of the time you don't even know what's going on, because dialogues are incomplete.

The English or the French version? If it's the English version, a new print must have been discovered, because when I saw the bad print in cinema, it was at the time the only existing copy.

Ah yes, the French version still exists in good quality. We were discussing the English version here. The board for the French version is on this page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0043865/
It would be nice to see the French version with subtitles, as it was aired on TCM. I have it without subs, but my French is not good enough to be able to understand all the dialogue.

Alas, not available outside the U.S.A.
But I'm sure it will turn up somewhere on the internet.

TCM has it on their schedule for Thursday 13 October 2016 at 12:30 a.m.

reply

They're showing it right now, but it's the French version (although the English version is the one advertised).

Yes, the French version. The poster displayed here of the movie with Audrey top billed was obviously done after her soon-to-be fame arrived. She's not in the movie much at all and is approximately 10th billed. As far as the movie is concerned: so bad.
