A Millionaire for Christy

This was one of my favorite movies from childhood. I tried unsuccessfully for years to locate a copy of it. About three years ago, much to my delight, it was shown on the Fox Movie channel and I taped two copies of it. In the process of moving, both copies were lost. I subscribe to Fox Movie channel for one reason; hoping they will play "A Millionaire for Christy" again. So far it hasn't happened.

If anyone "out there" reads this and knows where I may buy a copy, would you please let me know? Thank you.

Well I hope your cable subscription also includes Turner Classic Movies (TCM) because they ran the movie this morning.

Now I know why you enjoyed it so much. Real good movie, and I really never see a clunker when Fred MacMurray stars.

Coincidentally, I just caught it myself earlier today on TCM - loved it! Love Fred MacMurray, but I don't remember if I had ever seen this particular movie previously... just happened to click on TCM and saw the movie coming on, so I watched it through. I thoroughly enjoyed it so much, so I then decided to check here on IMD for any further info about it & to read up on more about Eleanor Parker... now I'm going to see if I can find this movie on a dvd... guess ebay would be the place to search for it.

You're in luck. I just saw it for the first time after ordering it (because it had Fred and Eleanor in it) from lovingtheclassics.com. It's a website that sells copies of public domain movies - I've order about 15 or 16 movies from them and except for one that was a little shaky (but still watchable - they may have had a poor source to copy from), I have been pleased with the movies.

Thanks PretoriaDZ for that info. Much appreciation. I'll have to check them out.

It was on cable today as well.First time I saw it.Thought Eleanor Parker was great.Liked the ironic Chevy tow truck with NASH (from a NASH dealer)on it,towing the Jaguar and supposibly going to repair it.A NASH dealer repairing a Jag....yea,just like a Rambler...ha!

I also thought the tow truck with NASH on the cab looked funny, until it hit me that NASH did build trucks (cab & chassis) for export mostly to South and Central America. The dealers were able to purchase these trucks for in house use. Model 3148 was built from 1947-54. Up until a few years ago; an old service station about 40 miles from me had 2 of the 3148 Nash's as well as a few Hudson pickups that used the front sheet metal from the current model cars. As for the Jag; as long as no parts had to be ordered from England the fillin station could probably get it going as long as they stay away from the Lucas electrical gremlins.
