I'm annoyed...

Why must Eleanor speak in that "breathy" tone? I really wanted to like this. There were some funny parts but I just can't get past her awful acting in this. And I usually like her as an actress.

I constantly wanted to smack her in this one, and I like her performances, as a rule. But her voice often does have that breathless quality - it's evident in "The Sound of Music," for example.

I was able to get past her breathiness, because it seemed necessary for her to sound like that in a screwball comedy role. She has a tendency to seem too serious at times even if she's not trying to be. At the beginning of the scene where they first kissed I was wishing she wasn't so breathy, but considering how comical the rest of the scene played out, her breathiness helped to keep it lighthearted enough to make the comedy work.

She doesn't do it the entire time, and it's not out of place when you FAINT or are pretending to. The car ride, for example, she's excellent. At the time, Parker received raves for this performance, and I agree. She's brilliant.

That breathy tone made her character seem high on drugs. This was not her best performance.
