Great, Satisfying Movie

All the bad people get theirs in the end and all the good people are rewarded.

Thelma Ritter should have had top billing for her part, instead, she's listed 4th (below that old bag Miriam Hopkins!) Thelma should have won the Supporting Oscar for this movie as opposed to Kim Hunter in that old southern dirge Streetcar Named Desire. Thelma's part required much more range. Besides prejudice against character actors, I think it was prejudice against a comedy versus a melodrama.

Amen

A Streetcar Named Desire which you call "that old southern durge" garnered 12 Oscar nominations with 4 wins. It is based on a Pulitzer prize-winning drama recognized as a classic of the American theater.

By the way, it's "dirge" not "durge".

 Excuse me for talking while you're interrupting.

Yes, I am familiar with A Streetcar Named Desire both on stage and in film. I particularly enjoyed the film. Thank you for the correction (dirge versus durge).

I still think that Ritter's performance in the comedy outshined Hunter's performance in Streetcar.

This positively infantile preoccupation with bosoms!Terry-Thomas about US 1963.Hasnt changed much!

I couldn't agree more
