Location?

Anyone know where the exterior locations of this western were shot? One
source says French Ranch in Hidden Valley in the greater L.A. area. But
those snow-capped peaks in many of the best scenes sure don't look like
they are anywhere near Los Angeles!

We simply must start a thread for Lone Pine California. I hope to be there October 9,10,11 2015 for Lone Pine Film Festival. 20th Anniversary of my 1st visit. Tonight I saw last 3/4 of "Violent Men" (not a very good title...) Glenn Ford, Barbara Stanwick, Edward G Robinson and Brian Keith. Wow! What a movie. Great gunfight at the end. Lots and lots of Lone Pine. Love that place! Majestic! Wow! Can't wait to see it again. John

Darn it! Not gonna make it to Lone Pine for Film Festival. No place to stay. All booked up. They said Mammoth Lakes Ca. 164 miles north!! Already got 500 mile drive from my front door to Lone Pine. Forget it! I went 2011 can't make 2015, no problem. But this time outa luck. I'll take my portable DVD player, Hoppy films (Hopalong Cassidy-William Boyd shot 36 Hoppy's there.) John Wayne/Gabby Hayes "Blue Steel" lotta stuff done in Lone Pine. "Ride Lonesome" Randolph Scott, that's a good one. Well, maybe I'll see you there sometime. John

I went there on my way to Reno in August. Stopped at the museum in Lone Pine and took a little drive around on movie road. What a beautiful area. I thought a cowboy was going to come out from behind the rocks at any time.... So many good movies and TV shows filmed there.
