For some reason, I confused this movie with…

Devil Girl from Mars. They showed this a couple of weeks ago on TCM and, while I was watching it, was wondering "Where's the woman in the tights and the giant refrigerator robot?". Then, it dawned on me, two different movies. I couldn't remember the title of the robot movie until I looked up Hazel Court. Both movies were shown on our local horror movie show about a week apart, maybe that's what caused the confusion.

What The Man from Planet X and Devil Girl from Mars have in common is that both take place in Scotland, not usually known as a hotbed for extraterrestrial encounters. After seeing them so closely together, that may have added to your confusion.

The big difference is that Planet X is actually a pretty absorbing tale while Devil Girl flails about like a parlor drama with a fetish costume (Patricia Laffan's vinyl tights and very short dress) and cheesy special effects. I like Devil Girl but it is not a good film.
