Weird police behavior at end (spoilers)

I just watched this movie on my DVR for the first time.

At the end the cops haul off the child murderer and also the gang boss who shot the lawyer. After checking for a pulse, the cops just leave the probably deceased lawyer laying there and they walk away.

I realize there was no CSI unit in 1951 but wouldn't you expect that there would be a cop assigned to stay with the lawyer while waiting for an ambulance or hearse or maybe the guy with the chalk who draws outlines around bodies?

There were a few cops left in the background but this movie makes it look like 1950's police procedure was to just leave bodies behind and wait for buzzards to clean up. It was odd.

I just watched the movie today. At first I thought the same thing; wow, they're just going to leave the body there. As I thought that I saw there were some uniformed police officers descending the ramp heading in the direction of the body. It was still kind of odd but, as you say, maybe it wasn't strange for the time. Every time I watch an older movie I notice things that are different than what we would see in current crime shows and movies. In this case, I think it also has to do with the fact the movie was ending. The focus was on the child killer and getting the crime boss. Most people probably wouldn't have given the lawyer's body a second thought but you and I seem to have picked up on it.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]

I like this film, but the ending was a bit awkward in that respect.
