smug, all-knowing, and a sexist to boot. Complains about the house, knowing she did the best she could. A jackass. Thankfully, the wife doesn't just sit back and take it. Glad he redeems himself in the end.

I had the same adjectives for Jim while I was watching it. Connie made a practical choice for the sake of his writing career and he refused to acknowledge it until he finally admitted he was going to miss that place.
