Sid Melton, last LC cast member, dies

The great Sid Melton, last remaining member of the cast of Lost Continent, died Nov. 2, 2011, 60 years after the film's release. IMDb and most references give his birth date as May 22, 1920, but the obit in The New York Times said he was 94, born in 1917.

That same obituary surprised me by mentioning his role in LC, but misstated his end, saying he was "eaten" by a triceratops. Gored, not eaten. Not a good end, either way.

Sid Melton gave scores of enjoyable performances in movies and on TV for over six decades. Lost Continent is my personal favorite, but he was always worth watching, even in the smallest bit part. Rest in peace, Willie.

Sad the Melton is gone. Wonder if he was buried with his "Parachute"? Lost Continent was a classic and a joy to watch! One of my favorite's to watch on early TV!

reply

I hadn't thought about his parachute. "What a way to go, baby!"

I hope he didn't ask for a cigarette. Again !

If you notice he asks for cigarettes but never smokes.....Chick Chandler lights his puts it in his mouth and then dumps them.....smokers notice crap like that...
