Risible Hollywood idea of Exmoor

The IMDB preamble sets this film in Scotland, whereas the story actually relates to Exmoor in West Somerset and North Devon in South West England - local towns such as Tiverton and Dulverton are named. No castle or waterfall as shown in the film ever existed there, and the waterfall in the real Doone Valley is a very modest affair. The area is hilly and rugged, but there are no mountains such as are shown in one backdrop.

The King laments that no river connects Bristol and Exmoor along which he could send his new ship - in fact it could easily have sailed along the coast.

Many of the accents - especially in the beginning - are conspicuously American - yes, I realise that so were most of the actors.
