the cigarette girl

Simon Russell seems curiously reluctant for the cigarette girl to be the woman he is to marry. I can think of far worse fates than being married to Audrey Hepburn.

"I beseech ye in the bowels of Christ, think that ye may be mistaken."

His bride is actually more luminous then the cigarette girl Audrey Hepburn. Plus, some would rather go for money than beauty...

He didn't want to be married at all! I think that was the point, but then he really did fall for that other woman.

Great movie!

Hi, I have only just watched this film and thoroughly enjoyed it..But I recognised the cigarette girl as Audrey Hepburn, and also could not understand why he did not marry her...(if she`d have him ) she is so beautiful and sweet...But there you go.

Audrey alert! TCM is showing Laughter in Paradise on Friday August 22 as part of Audrey Hepburn day. Another rarity being shown that day is Secret People with Audrey as a young ballerina. Check your TCM schedules.

She looked slightly different to normal so I didn't recognise her, I came to IMDB to see who she was and was quite surprised. I like her line "Don't I count as a woman?'

Audrey Hepburn would only have been 21-22, and was possibly playing younger. It might have been thought inappropriate for Guy Middleton to have romanced someone so much his junior.

reply

I think Hepburn was the better catch.

Its that man again!!
