Cinematographer: James Wong Howe

If for no other reason watch this to see the really fine work of legendary cinematographer James Wong Howe. Dramatic visualizations. Innovative use of shadows and wide angle lenses. Stunning work! Way ahead of its time.

I'm watching this film now on TCM. No wonder the cinematography is so stunning! Howe's work was fantastic and I believe inspired future filmmakers.

Also interesting to note: This was Garfield's last picture. Shelley Winters and Wallace Ford collaborated again in 1965 on "A Patch of Blue" for which Winters won Best Supporting Actress......and it was Ford's last picture.
