Confusing

In that the story line in the film does not match the novel. Seems certain scenes are thrown in haphazardly just to get them in.
I get that the entire cast of characters that involve political beliefs were completely omitted, as there is no way to have Japanese citizens discussing socialism
The novel is quite explicit in how the characters end, and to leave the ending here in such a way, I found disturbing.
That all said, I loved it regardless, and the actors were superb.
