Kino Lorber Blu-ray

Fixed Bayonets! (1951) was something of a turning point film for Samuel Fuller. He had already directed three movies in the past two years, one of them, The Steel Helmet (1951), a groundbreaking work depicting the recently initiated Korean War. Having also had a colorful newspaper and military career (which in themselves would have been enough of a life for most men), Fuller’s first-hand experiences continued to tug at his imagination and his soul. So for his fourth feature, Fuller was keen to revisit the war, but this time, he was to do so with the facilities and resources made possible by 20th Century Fox. More specifically, he was able to direct his first studio film thanks to Darryl F. Zanuck, who was impressed by Fuller’s prior work, offered him a multi-picture contract, and would become good friends with the vibrant, craggy, and highly original filmmaker: http://www.cutprintfilm.com/blu/new-blu-ray-fixed-bayonets/
