Criminally underrated

This film is an absolute classic. How come nobody has ever heard of it or seen it? It should be in the top 250!

I don't know about that. I know quite a few Bogart fans who never even heard of it until I mentioned it. Maybe, for some reason, it depends on what part of the country you live in. When I lived back East it would show up fairly regularly on the local channels, but since I've been out west--about 15 years--I don't think I've seen it at all. I don't know that TCM has ever shown it.

I agree with you and i definitely do NOT agree with

Take any top Bogie film list available on the net (the easiest available reference to our knowledge of the best Bogie films) and in almost all of them, you wouldn't find The Enforcer.

I found most other movies of his a lot easily than this one which was difficult to find.

In fact a Dirty Harry movie with the same name is a lot more popular than this one (which was a cool movie in its own right). So totally agree with the OP's note - criminally underrated it is.

Seems like a rather minor, not altogether successful crime flick to me with its overly convoluted story structure that could have used some polish, almost comically overdrawn, not particularly believable gallery of twitchy crooks and mostly stilted acting. There's a certain air of naivety about the whole thing.
