That Florida Scenery

Being a native of the state, yes that Florida scenery is beautiful, but most ofwhat the reviewers were raving about is not the Everglades.

The blow-up-the-fort scenes were filmed at Saint Augustine.

The swamp scenes were mostly filmed in the Everglades.

The village and underwater fight scenes were filmed at Silver Springs.

Florida is a LONG state. From Saint Augustine to the Everglades is about 400 miles. From the Everglades back north to Silver Springs is about 250 miles. There is significant differences in the appearance of the land from one site to another.

The extremely poor costuming and props (primarily uniforms and weapons) is akin to filming a Revolutionary War movie using Civil War props.

And then there was the continuity problem - branch-colored stripes on Cooper's uniform trousers (if the Army was wearing khaki trousers at the time) kept changing color.
