In his review of this movie, 'Marko Roy' comments on Jackie Mason's playing of the title role!

That message was (apparently) posted in 2001. Four years and no-one has seen fit to question the choice of a Jewish comedian (who must have been quite young in 1951) to play a leading Nazi Field Marshal.

Luther Adler as Hitler is one thing, but Jackie Mason as Rommel ? I think not !!

What next ? Warren Mitchell as Yasser Arafat?

He may not have read the cast list naming James Mason in the lead, but that doesn't take away from the fact that Marko Roy DID in fact say Jackie Mason played Rommel.
