Wow...Great Movie!

I watched this on AMC this Memorial Day weekend...

It started late, and I really wanted to go to bed. But the more I watched, the more it became apparent that I wasn't going to bed anytime soon!

How does this movie exist in such a vacume? It was up for a Best Picture Oscar for goodness sakes!

If you haven't seen this, and you get a chance to, YOU MUST!

It was also my introduction to Hildegard Knef. Wow... I didn't think anyone could approach Lee Remick in my "Movie Dream Girl" thoughts. And her life's bio... *INCREDIBLE!* Read up on her!

Thanks AMC, for showing this Masterpiece!

If you like great war movies (Hell, it's a GREAT movie period), or know someone who does, buy this.

Yeah...that was my reaction when I first saw it. It's coming out on DVD in the States very soon...within a week or so.

You should see her in The Snows of Kilimanjaro made the next year.

Yeah...she was great in that one, too!

Just saw it last night.

The frenetic pace of the film reminded me of The Fugitive (1993) with Harrison Ford. There was danger at every turn and the main characters seemed to always be moving, always on the run.

Excellent film that I will recommend to others.

Whoa...I'm super late with this reply, but I think your comparison to the break neck pace of THE FUGITIVE is a good one, bunch-5!

Danger at every turn...AND HOW! I've been called a cool customer in a tight spot a time or two before, but man, that behind enemy lines claustrophobia made my blood pressure go up just watching! LOL!

This film was shown a lot back int he '60's, just as the "late movie." Terrific film. Oskar Werner was terrific.

Agree: exceptional film. And Hildegarde Knef is the standout performance. Glad to see the movie has appeared on DVD. However - I was disappointed with the extras. A film of this calibre cries out for something of more substance: commentary, 'making of' featurette, documentary, anything.
