KLAUS KINSKI CAMEO!!!!!

Am I the only one that caught Klaus Kinski being interviewed by the American officers to spy for them? I didn't know he was acting back that far. Even then he played his part like a kooky weasel. I'd love to know how much direction he was given by Litvak for his 15 second part. Or maybe Litvak just said, "Wing it, Klaus!"

I had no idea he was in this, but I recognized him right away despite how young he was. I had to reverse and watch his bit again. Awesome!

reply

Ich auch!

spotted him, straight out. so young, so long ago...

reply

No doubt, I saw it and hurried here to see if anyone else saw it. Its him alright!

reply

The interesting thing is that he was actually in the German army and was captured by the British at the end of the war. Since this was filmed in 1950, I'm sure it was easy for him to get into character.

When I saw him in this my first thought was to wonder how much grief he gave the director. This was pre-Werner Herzog, so maybe he behaved himself!

If you haven't seen it yet, check out 'My Best Fiend' asap.

How funny! As soon as I saw him, I thought, "Is that...?" I'm glad to see I didn't just imagine it.

reply

Me too! When I heard the voice and saw the face I was like... "No it couldn't be... could it??"

Klaus Kinski has a lot of practice as a trapped-animal prisoner in the movies. He showed up as a chained convict during the cramped scenes aboard the Siberia-bound cattle car in David Lean's "Doctor Zhivago."

Hilarious. I almost shot off the couch. I was watching it alone and i heard myself say out loud "No *beep* way ...". Klaus really chewed it up in his short take. He played it like a detestable character from a Fritz Lang film. Such greatness.

reply

He was the same as the other Germans in the movie.
Actual ex-POWs. Just 5 years before they were interned in POW camps.
You can clearly see that all Germans in that movie are ex-Army. They behave exactly like they did.

reply

I spotted him, too. No one else looks like him.
