Does anyone else want to strangle that kid?

Just saying.

I thought at times he was over the top. Like when Klaatu admits where he comes from there are cemeteries but not like this. "You've never heard of Arlington Cemetery?" Bobby asks. "No," Klaatu replies. "You don't know much of anything, do you Mr. Carpenter?"

"Cum Grano Salis"

reply

To me, he wasn't annoying in the slightest. The kid from RoboCop 2, however...

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

reply

You think he was bad... Try watching Jaden Smith in the remake.

~ I've been very lonely in my isolated tower of indecipherable speech.

reply

Or the kid in the remake of Invaders from Mars!

No No wait! Dakota Fanning in War of the Worlds.

reply

The kid was great, a believable Fifties youngster, neither obnoxiously forward nor fake-introverted, and his actions were pivotal to the story's unfolding. Good for the kid.

Ditto

Yes, and a great actor to boot!

reply

I agree. Very likable kid, I thought.

reply

Hey Donamedina,

I am with you. I wish my grandchildren were more like he.

Best wishes,

Like someone said, typical of a fifties kid. Sad they've gone from respectful and kind to constantly wanting to be the center of attention and probably thinking anyone over the age of 30 is not worth the time of day. But, that's how they're being brought up now days with no religious upbringing, lenient parents and the boobtube showing them how to be obnoxious.

reply

No. I like the kid especially as played by Billy Gray.

reply

at irritates me is Helen's codescendng attitude toward Bobby. If I can't think of an answer,I'll just pokehis nose& say "Don t forget to brush your teeth."

There are a number of kids in film and television I'd like to strangle [e.g., the kid in The Blob (1958)], but this is not one of them. I like Billy Gray.

reply

No, but it's my understanding MANY wanted to the kid in the remake.

reply

It was YOU, Cosmonican!

Enrique Sanchez

reply

It was his voice.....Ugh!....they way it would go really high pitched, and plus his "AW SHUCKS" attitude was a bit irritating. However back in the 1950s, that's the way most movies made kids talk...
