What would you have done?

If you were the judge and it was up to you to decide whether both Hamilton sisters go to prison, or go free, what would your verdict be? I'd let them go because for one thing, it wasn't a premeditated murder, the gun rack was pushed her way, and she just did it. Besides, even though the marriage was basically a publicity ploy, Dorothy loved Andre truly, but he didn't love her, furthermore he was with Rene, and he left Dorothy on the wedding night. Dorothy was completely heartbroken over it, and her sister hurt because she hurt. Her sister loved her so much, she was even willing to take the risk of being separated while they were both still alive, just so Dorothy could be happy. The only reason she did what she did was because she loved her sister, and she hated to see her sister hurt as Andre had hurt her.

I would not impose a prison sentence. Probably a few months of probation and several hundred hours of community service.

I would have begged the Pope to forgive me my most grevious sins of watching boredom like this.

The idea of sending a convict to prison is to eliminate the convict as a threat to the public by taking away his or her freedom, right? So instead of sending the twins to prison (which would wrongly punish the innocent one) or letting them go free with or without probation (which would be allowing the guilty one to escape justice), why not keep the guilty sister handcuffed and manacled at all times, denying her the use of her arms and hands (thus eliminating her threat to the public while allowing the innocent sister to remain free)?

Daily visits by Law Enforcement would ensure that the guilty sister's sentence is being upheld while also allowing the bonds to be adjusted or changed to prevent medical maladies like pressure sores. The only real downside to this sentence would be that the guilty sister would become much more dependent on the innocent sister, thus burdening the latter.

But it's better than sending the innocent sister to prison. What do you think?

Geez, what a gruesome idea. Maybe the title of the movie got to you.

Okay, so what would you have done? Or did you just come here to dog me without contributing any ideas of your own?

Aw, pentacleman, I didn't mean to dog ya. To see what I would have done, check my post on the other thread (Interested in possible solutions to the...)

Seriously, though: Not Guilty due to extenuating circumstances.
