nostalgia

I finally saw this last night, and I was quite a contrast to the grim, violent LITTLE BIG HORN which came out about the same time. The supporting cast is full of familiar faces from serials, B westerns and othe genre films: Ethan Laidlaw, Paul Newlan, Acquanetta, Douglas Kennedy and Fowley, Earle Hodgins(who appeared in numberous Hopalong Cassidy films) et al.
The fight scene between Smoky and Stretch also has the feel of an old Republic fight but without people like Ton Steele or Dale van Sickel. One question: who was Keel's double in the scene? Unlike Republic, it isn't so obvious, but whoever it was, he doesn't receive credit. It might have been John Indrisano, a former boxer, who plays Callaway's personal trainer and receives prominent billing.
