Michael Redgrave, always a commanding performer, is simply mesmerising as Andrew Crocker-Harris in The Browning Version. Outwardly stuffy and stern, inwardly deeply sad and resigned to sloping off forgotten into the sunset - this is a masterclass in acting. An excellent film is transformed into a classic by an unforgettable lead performance.
