question about Crocker-Harris's replacement (Gilbert)
Something seemed odd to me that such an affable, extroverted, kid-loving chap as Gilbert would really "suffer an attack of the jitters" and want to "practice his class lecture in the classroom beforehand".
So, especially since Gilbert, the student of "human behavior", has had his eye on Crocker-Harris's rather inhumane treatment of the kids and his lack of success with them, I'm wondering if Gilbert actually simply followed Crocker-Harris into the classroom deliberately, in order to "accidently" spill the beans about C-H's nickname. Perhaps he knew that C-H needed a bit of a heads-up in order to change his teaching style for his next job.
What do you think?
