There were a couple of other genre movies in the 50s featuring gorillas as monsters. Gorilla At Large(with Anne Bancroft sporting an ugly short haircut-ugh!)and the rotation-stopping Hall Of Trash entry The Bride And The Beast featuring a reluctant star(and total babe) Charlotte Austin.

The Barry Chavez character reminded me of the J.R. Ewing character in Dallas.
