The car

Why would you think the car belonged to the paper? That was never stated, or even alluded to, and it really wouldn't make much sense. The press sign in the window was simply placed in their personal car.

I can't swear to it, but the car looked to be the same car Tatum was in when he was towed into town. It seemed clear it was his car. If not his, then I'd assume Herbie's. At no time would I assume the car belonged to the paper. The only time they mentioned the paper footing the bill was when they were going to get gas and charge the gas to the paper. That would go with the car being a personal car.

Like I said, it looked like the exact car he was sitting in when towed into town.
