'You'll need protection' - yuk yuk yuk

Did anybody else grin when Mulligan told that heavy woman in the perfume shop, "You'll need protection," after he "sold" her on that most alluring perfume?

I grinned from ear to ear, because the line was not only funny in its own context of what Mulligan meant, but also funny in the context of what we as a society have come to understand "protection" to mean.
