supporting cast

Watched this on Svengoolie. Really fun movie, but to me, it's just fascinating how the right supporting cast can bump a movie up a couple of notches. Sheldon Leonard, great in everything he did, wonderful here as the bad guy. William Frawley, who incidentally was in A & C's first movie back in 1940. I'm watching him in this, and he's making average lines sound like hilarious dialogue, just because he's the one saying them. Paul Maxey, so memorable in Narrow Margin, really fun and funny here as the police psychiatrist. Even Herb Vigran, at the gym, just adds that certain something to the scenes he's in, he's the guy who it seemed like turned up as a bad guy on Superman every other week, just a welcome presence. A supporting cast can really make or break a movie.
