In the plot sum. he calls the ranch Flying Crown, but I seem to recall the name of the ranch as Royal Crown, but it was a long time age.

Sky King lived at the "Flying Crown Ranch" for the run of the television series.

Although the series' locale was AZ, it was filmed in CA. The exteriors of the ranch were in Apple Valley. Anyone know if it was a real ranch or just a set piece, and if the former, is it still standing?

I'm gonna just take a wild stab at this one. I used to live in Apple Valley. It was also the home of Roy and Dale Rogers. There were loads of ranches out there. But! There was still quite a bit of ranch land in L.A. at that time too.

Certainly they could have shot some stock fottage in Apple Valley, but almost everything happened outside because of the plane. It would have made much more sense to stay in L.A. and shoot.

Now I'm going to have to rent these! :)

Update: It is still there on Rancherias Drive, although it has been remodeled so extensively that probably the chimney is the only recognizable feature from the TV series.
