Oil Wells

This, like most season three offerings, is a real fave of mine. Everyone is delightful, including Sandra Gould as "Honeypot" Johnson. The script is sharp, and we get another chance to see our fab-four get into another childish argument.

Only flaw: Ethel complains that all she knows about the new tenants is their name ("Johnson"). Certainly as landlady, Ethel would know as much, or nearly as much, as Fred about their new tenants' background! Or was Fred so desperate to rent his units, that he never bothered to find out what his prospective tenants did for a living or what their financial status was?!!

That's a good question, but I do tend to think that Fred was probably handed a wad of cash and didn't take it any further. He was made very happy for the moment.

Good point. If so, I wonder how much Mr. Johnson paid in advance. After Lucy recorded the Johnson's and called them swindlers, I'm sure Sam and "Honeypot" moved out right away!

We'll never know 🙂

IMO this show is one of the best ever. To me it's timeless, although I know some people say it's "sexist", etc., but it was a different era (way before my time) and I personally think it's hysterical and that Lucy was way ahead of her time!

I've loved it for about 53 years. Happy I have the whole series, so I can put one on before bed if I've had a rough day.

I've loved this show for as long as I can remember!

Oil Wells is a fun episode. I love the way everyone starts acting rich, like Lucy with her oversized ten gallon hat. (was it 20 gallons? ha!)
