Movies

Many fans of ILL, myself included, don't really give a hang about Lucy's (fairly remarkable)
moments in the movies.

Two exceptions:

Best Foot Forward (1943): This amazingly fun, zesty MGM musical has Lucy portraying herself -
and she lends terrific support to the other stars.

Ziegfeld Follies (1944): Wow. You don't have to be a lover of old musicals to appreciate
Ball's astonishing number as the "Pink Lady" who opens the film with her fiery, admittedly
campy, "cat woman" number. Ball had a great body, and was a great beauty. This
fascinating number opens the "all-revue" picture.

Ball was quite a stunner.

Side note: Lucy was quite good as a dramatic actor, as evidenced by her turn in 1937's
"Stage Door", where she holds her own with Kate Hepburn and Ginger Rogers.

I liked Lucy in "The Fuller Brush Girl" I thought that was a cute movie, she was very funny. I also love "The Long, Long Trailer" I thought that was such a cute movie.

I've seen a number of Lucy's films but that was a long time ago. I can't comment on any individual films. It's been so long ago.

I did enjoy "Yours, Mine and Ours" which was made in the sixties. It was a long time before I realized that Lucille Ball was too old for the part. She was in her mid-fifties and in the movie, she has another baby. Oh well, the magic of Hollywood.

But she sure was beautiful in her early MGM films.

In 1946, Lucy co-starred with Mark Stevens in the film noir "The Dark Corner." Pretty strong film.
