Hablo español?

I don't. But in "The Big Bar" (10/14/54), Frank Smith does- sort of. He carefully speaks a few basic words of Spanish, sounding like he's memorized them phonetically, then offers an English translation for Friday after the Spanish-speaking witness has said something. I strongly suspect Ben Alexander didn't hablo español.

What is ironic- and strange- is that one of the other cops is played by Harry Bartell, who, I believe is of hispanic ethnicity and who played an officer named Tony Chavez in "The Big Boys" (1/21/54). Chavez in that episode, translates for two Mexican girls (see 5:20):

Bartell obviosuly speaks Spanish well. In The Big Bar, he's also playing a cop but he's named Jack Crowley and he looks on as Alexander/Smith stumbles through his scene(at 2:40):

Why not have Bartell play Chavez again and have him do the translating?

Nobody in that scene is around to answer my question so I guess it will remain a mystery.
