badge 714 series so why are they showing it as dragnet 51?

I started to watch dragnet on youtube and when I started to watch it said badge 51. why was it this way. Though I was born in 52 I really didn't see any episodes through its 8 year run. I watched highway patrol in the same decade. I only remember the middle 60's show. Also when I looked on this site I went through some of the first two years and noticed all the episodes had the word BIG in them. Why? And why didn't metv when they were showing the 60's shows why didn't they ever show the 50's episodes? Know one thing since they showed the 60's eps over and over and over again I was getting tired of watching dragnet. If they showed the 50's it would have been a nice change of pace and wouldn't have gotten that tired since it ran for 8 years.

The 50's Dragnet shows and the 60's Dragnet shows were owned by different entities, and were syndicated separately. That's why you only kept seeing the color episodes over and over again on MeTV.

The 50's episodes, for the most part, went into public domain when the copyrights weren't renewed. You'd have to resurrect Jack Webb to find out why all the episodes had the word "Big" in them, no reason is given anywhere for that. Every once in a while, a series will do that for one reason or another. All "Burke's Law" episodes were titled like "Who Killed ________?" "Rawhide" episodes were, with a few exceptions, "Incident of the _____________". More recently, "Friends" episodes were given titles "The One With The _________".
