It Was Hilarious

I watched the show on TV in the late 1950s. Just as I watched the Honeymooners and then later, Sanford & Son. I thought Amos and Andy was hilarious. But it did portray black people in a sterotypical negative way, much more so than any of the other funny comedy shows of the period portrayed white people. Does that make it racist? Perhaps. As a teenager when I first watched the show racism didn't mean the same thing to me it does now. Still, the show was hilarious, as were many of the characters. My favorite was "Lightnin." I wish it were on today. "Aw Andy!" How bout that!
