Japanese influence

John Fords westerns were loved by Kurosawa and he made excellent films in particualr in the 50s. These were remade in the 60s/70s and I felt this film whocould be easily adapted from a Japanese story/film.

Has anyone else noticed a connection/similiraty to Japanese films (of the 50s?)
