The best scenes are without Jimmy Stewart

Don't get me wrong I think Stewart was very good in this movie but the most interesting scenes don't include Lin McAdam. In an episodic film like W73 the most interesting scenes go hand in hand with the most interesting characters. I especially love the scene at Riker's with Joe Lamont, and the next scene with Young Bull. All the scenes with Waco Johnny Dean are a hoot, the first one with Steve and Lola at the farm house and the next scene with Dutch Henry up in the old McAdam place. Jimmy and Dan interact all too briefly in the saloon in Tascosa.

I agree. Stewart, while good, didn't have much in the way of memorable scenes. And Dan Duryea just owned the Waco Johnny Dean character. Great portrayal.

Personally, I find that most of the memorable scenes involve Stewart: for instance his early meeting with Wyatt Earp, his early confrontation in the bar, and the climactic mountainside shootout.
