where danger lives/charles willeford

I've just seen the 1950 film noir where danger lives, starring robert mitchum and directed by john farrow. The story is virtually identical to the 1956 novel by renowned crime novelist charles willeford, Wild Wives.
Does anyone know more about Willeford 'lifting' the idea for his novel from the film?

I read a story by Louis Beavers that sounded almost the same as this: "My WIld Irish Armpit". It actually made more sense. Thank You.
