Connie

I couldn't stand Connie as an adult. That boyfriend of hers was absolutely revolting; how she could stand him shows that she just cared for appearances and money (she probable saw him as a way out of her low-income/slum existence). At least she retained her self-respect and virtue when she realized what he wanted, for which he made her "walk" home. I would like to think she changed her values and became a more loving woman...

I rather think she might have lost her virtue the night Maurice plied her with champagne and took her to his pal's place. His attitude to her after seemed to be that he'd had his bit of fun and that was all he wanted.( We knew that). Her Dad being arrested for murder (surely self defence) gave him the perfect excuse to brush aside her suggestion of marriage. At least he got a good slap.
