i just watched this an hour ago. i find it quite nice and touching. ms claudette colbert gave a strong performance as the author. i have not read the book, i do not know how accurate it is adapted, but nevertheless, it's still a good war movie. if it was really filmed on location, then it was filmed in my country as sarawak is in the east of malaysia.
also, kudos to mark keuning...a really adorable child...
As I sat at my computer this morning, I turned the tv on, saw the title of the movie and decided to watch even though it was only the last 40 minutes or so.
All I can say is WOW!! I wish that I had been able to see it from the beginning as I truly was in suspense the entire time and in tears for the final 20 minutes.
Claudette Colbert has always been a classy lady and willing to put her all in every role. This must have been quite touching for her to be able to personally learn from the author every detail of the horror that she lived through.
I hope that next time it is on that I will be able to watch the entire movie!
