'C U Next Tuesday/Thursday'

Early on in film, Judy's character is giving Gene's character a hard time and, as he leaves kitchen, he makes the remark, smirking, "See you next Thursday." The remark is utterly meaningless. . .until you realize that it was once a coded way to indicate that person is insulting person he/she is speaking to by suggesting initials are a vulgar term for female genitalia.

Undoubtedly an in-joke vulgarity that flew over heads of most people (and censors) but turns up in other movies, too, including heated exchange in What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? when "See you next Tuesday" inexplicably crops up in angry conversation between Jane and maid for no other clear reason. (Why not Monday, Wednesday, Friday or simply "next week"?)

I noticed that too. I suppose it is just a way to insert a naughty joke into an otherwise family-friendly movie...since most folks won't really notice the insult. In the scene in question, Gene has just returned from milking nine cows for an entire glass of milk; Judy informs him that they usually get several gallons, so Gene's "See you next Thursday" might mean simply that the task is going to take a lot longer than he thought.

Interestingly, John Landis has made a habit of putting "See You Next Wednesday" into almost all of his films. In his case, I believe he is quoting a line from "2001."

No no no. The joke is that he thinks that he's gotten all the milk he can get from the cows, and is shocked into disbelief when Jane tells him how much milk they get from the cows every day. He says, See you next Thursday", meaning that it's going to take him until next Thursday to get that much milk out of the cows.
