In the scene where Cooper is running from the police, he gets into his car, locks the doors, & has a difficult time starting his car, they break his window in the process. Does anyone know the year, make or model of that car?
I have DVR'd this movie, and am a car nut. Not being able to identify the car actually made a great movie less enjoyable. We should all realize that many cars of the vintage shown were custom-built on standard chassis, and not necessarily production models. This entire movie has a pre-war look to it; given the devastating effect of WWII on British industry, it's likely that the car was a pre war survivor, and may actually have been modified by the studio to look different from its original appearance. Anyway I will research this and hope to have an answer for everyone soon.
If you do find anything out about this car, please let me know, I would appreciate it. I know there were alot of custom built cars in the 30's and that could be the reason I have not been able to find anything about it. I thought that the front end of the car was beautifully styled, wish cars could look like that today.
I too am a car nut, and I love spotting cars in films and identifying them. I recognized this one immediately by the grille, and it's beautiful! It's made by Armstrong-Siddeley. This company manufactured cars and aircraft engines. The model of this car is the Typhoon. You can read more about it here:
As post-meridian says above, it's an Armstrong-Siddeley Typhoon. It's a 1946 model.
If there are other cars you want to know about from films try - www.imcdb.org. Enter the film name and photos of all the main vehicles in the film will be shown with the manufacturers name, model & year.
