Surprise evedence and witnesses

I was surprised to see that the court proceedings were almost exactly like they are in the US. Unfortunately this movie commits the same mistakes of US filmmakers. Specifically, surprise evedence and witnesses. I'm pretty sure that no judge in such a court would allow either of those things because defendants especially have the right to examine all evidence and depose all witnesses before they can be used. I guess that these devices are dramatic and most people don't know the law, so these techniques keep getting used.
