shareMalabar is a place name.
shareIt is a district in India about 140 miles long. I think the British fought a battle there, so somebody named a racehorse that name.

EM Forster evokes it in his 1924 novel A Passage To India. He uses the name as "Marabar" to denote the caves where his main character has a mystical quasi-sexual experience.
Two years later, Forster's associate DH Lawrence uses the name "Malabar" in the climax of his Rocking Horse story about an adolescent and his frenzied night-riding which, of course, is an allegory for masturbation.
