Considering the sort of materials used to make coffee during the Civil War, "doody" coffee might not have been far off.

Reminds me of the time I had lunch room duty at my grandson's elementary school, He was in kindergarten at the time and I told him I lunch duty and he started snickering saying 'you said doody"
