Cameo by Eric Sykes?

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the late great Eric Sykes has a cameo role in this. When the American sailor is on the run in the pub, he accidentally drinks the beer of the man next to him who says 'Hey you! That's my beer'. It looked and sounded like Sykes to me.
